Hallucinogenic Drugs Addiction Treatment Program
End your battle with hallucinogenic drug abuse today with our medically-assisted, patient-focused detox program
Hallucinogens encompass a diverse group of drugs that alter perception, thoughts, and feelings. They can cause hallucinations or images and feelings that seem real even though they aren’t. Hallucinogens can be found in plants and mushrooms or they can be manufactured by humans.
Common hallucinogens include:
- Ayahuasca
- Acid (LSD)
- Peyote
- Psilocybin (also known as magic mushrooms)
- PCP
While they aren’t typically considered as addictive as drugs like cocaine, you can develop a tolerance to hallucinogens. When you build a tolerance, you have to take higher doses of the drug to achieve the desired effects, which can be very dangerous given the unpredictability of hallucinogens.
The first step in our hallucinogenic drugs addiction treatment program is a medical detox with a licensed doctor to keep patients as safe and comfortable as possible. After the medical detox is complete, we move on to the next steps in the rehab process.
How do I know if I’m addicted to hallucinogenic drugs?
Although addiction to hallucinogens is less common than other substances, many people can still develop a dependence on them, which signals a physical addiction. Whether or not you experience any withdrawal symptoms can be an indicator of addiction.
People who use hallucinogens often may also develop a psychological dependence on the drug. Some signs of a psychological dependence include:
- The user feels the need to take the drug more frequently
- They go through extremes to get the drug
- They avoid responsibilities or friends and family to take the drugs
- They continue to use the drug despite knowing the severe consequences they can cause
If you have any or several of these physical or behavioral symptoms, please contact Harris House today at 314-328-7938 to talk with one of our counselors about an evaluation and admission.
